Twilight began development on 3 May 2023, after just a night of planning. The goal being to make a playable test build in just under a month.

Twilight, as a safeguard, consists of a smaller, less ambitious game plan to our previous failed project NS Backrooms which can be built on over time.

The plan was a first person adventure game focused on the player getting as many ending scenarios as possible, which would build the players understanding of the small urban neighborhood that the game is set in. As the player meets the three characters that inhabit the game world, they would learn what their mission is and begin their path towards the conclusion of the game.

The image above is the apartment complex as it was being constructed, on the 13th May 2023.

The game would follow a blocky, minimalist art style and be set mostly at night in the 'twilight' hours of 00:00 and 03:00 (hence the name of the game).

To begin with, TenSee_ began construction on the player's apartment, experimenting with animations and being able to turn sounds on and off at will (the radio was modelled from a real life travel radio that TenSee_ owns in his 'office'). He also explored with adding more detail to rooms like skirting boards and objects scattered around the environment.

As the apartment began to take shape, work began on the hallway outside and the first teaser was released to the website on 10th May 2023. Two days later the staircase was put in and the lobby was beginning to take shape.

On 13th May 2023, the Lobby was more or less complete and work had began on the street outside, running from the little courtyard in the centre of the map to a small car park behind the apartment building.

Between 14th and 15th May 2023, the car park at the back of the apartment complex was completed, along with a neighboring apartment building with flashing aircraft warning lights and the lighting system was changed from Lumen to standalone Ray Tracing for optimisation, though lumen will be available to turn on in the settings.

On 18th May 2023, work began on the world outside the apartment complex, building up roads and adding street-side props. A security van was modelled the day before and was added to the scene.
